If you are in the market for a new digital camcorder, chances are that you are either replacing an analog video camera or this will be your first camcorder. Either way, the digital technology available is very exciting. It has been with us for a few years and has had time to mature and evolve into the best method for capturing quality video images. The analog technology that was so popular in the past is the same technology found in our old VCR. If you have had the opportunity to upgrade to DVD or have seen the two side by side, you probably noticed that the picture quality difference between the two is tremendous. Video resolution is measured by horizontal lines. The total number of horizontal lines making up an image is known as the horizontal lines of resolution. The more horizontal lines contained within a picture, the sharper the picture is. The standard VCR usually contains 240 horizontal lines of resolution. The Super VHS and Hi8mm formats, both of which are analog camcorder formats, each contain about 400 horizontal lines of resolution. DVD and digital camcorders usually contain about 500 horizontal lines of resolution. That is about 20% greater than Hi8 video, and better than twice the resolution of your VCR. In other words, digital offers the sharpest picture available. Not only is the picture sharper than analog can offer, but the color is better as well. Colors appear brighter and truer than those recorded with analog. Another advantage can be found when duplicating the video. With analog tape, the images will degrade every time the video is duplicated. Since digital video is recorded using a series of numbers, the image quality will remain the same, even when duplicating. Moreover , the Digital Camcoders is very easy to use . You can copy your video to your computer , start editing ,and send it to your friends anywhere in the world. New technology just make it easier with cheaper price. Why don't you throw away your old analog video camera and buy a new one? |
